All members, widows, and veterans are eligible to apply for support. There are a wide range of services and items we can help you with. For example, we may be able to help with mobility scooters, so that you can zip around town on your own. We’re even able to help with the little essentials that people sometimes find hard to buy – like hearing aid batteries. Just give us a call and we will do our best to help.
We provide:
- Assistance with transport to hospital and doctors appointments.
- Assistance with applying for entitlements with agencies such as Veteran’s Affairs, Work and Income New Zealand, ACC, Hospitals and War Pensions.
- Assistance with special needs aids i.e walkers, wheelchairs and motorised scooters.
- Financial assistance with health aids i.e hearing aids, dental work, and glasses.
- Visits to hospitals, rest homes, and when required – private homes.
- Information regarding rest homes, hospital and retirement villages.
Remember it is your Club and we are here to assist and advise you in any way we can.
West Auckland Area Returned & Services Association Homes for the Elderly Trust
There are a total of 48 units used as accommodation for the elderly and those in need in the West Auckland area. Funding for these units has come in by way of contributions from all West Auckland RSA’s, the RNZAF, WO, and NCO Mess base at Whenuapai, as well as donations from the community at large. It is our mission to take care of the less fortunate in our community, especially the elderly. Contact the office for further information.
It is also important to note that the RNZRSA (Royal New Zealand Returned Services’ Association) is making strides to provide our service men and women, as well as those who previously served in our armed forces – with the physical and mental health-care via national and international health providers.
The Henderson RSA is Proud to Have a Strong Women’s Section
There are almost 16,000 women who participate in the Women’s Section of more than 150 RSA’s in New Zealand. We are proud to say that the Henderson RSA has a strong Women’s Section that goes above and beyond to help the less fortunate in our community.
The Women’s Section of the Henderson RSA is run by an elected committee with Raewyn Keenan at the Helm as President. They do a tremendous amount of good work within the community such as visiting those that are ill, catering for funerals, and offering their kind support to those in need.
Any female member of the RSA is eligible to join. It is a great way to meet like-minded people, people who want to make a difference in the lives of others, and people who want to make their community a better place to live. The Women’s Section meets once per month during morning tea. Pop in for a cup of tea and meet our lovely ladies!
